Who we are

History

Generis International, originally established in Canada as Canterio International in 2008 by Lukeman Masuen, is committed to providing educational support to orphans affected by the HIV/AIDS crisis in Malawi. In 2010, under the leadership of Isa Ebowe, the organization expanded its efforts to the United States. As our mission grew to encompass regions beyond Malawi, we adopted the name Generis International, inspired by the Latin term meaning “friends of the human race.”

Our Mission

Our mission is to advance educational opportunities for vulnerable children

Our Belief

We believe that education is essential for the future of all children.

Why Our Focus is Education

Our mission for educating children was inspired by my father, Moses Uwiegbe Imasuen, who passed away in 2005. A passionate advocate for education, Mr. Imasuen was one of the few educated men of his time in Africa. He dedicated his life to reading and teaching reading and writing within his community. He believed that turning a book upside down was a mark of disrespect for knowledge and was deeply committed to the idea that education is the key to escaping poverty and transforming the world for the better.
